An Omaha man has been charged in connection with a plot to target President Donald Trump’s UFC Freedom 250 event held on Sunday. Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez was charged in federal court with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States.
Federal officials announced that they have made five arrests and identified 23 suspects in the plot to target the event. The alleged plot involved two waves, including an initial drone strike followed by a storming of the White House gate and snipers looking to pick off high-value targets amidst the fallout from the drone explosions.
According to charging documents, Alvarez was identified using his IP address, which they were able to identify from his TikTok account. The FBI arrested him on Sunday.
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a statement Tuesday stating that the FBI and Department of Justice worked together in a “multi-state operation” that “stopped cold” the terror plot. Patel said law enforcement “became aware” of the threat on June 10.
A copy of a criminal complaint from one of the other arrests that occurred in Ohio names 19-year-old Tycen Proper. The complaint alleges he was involved with a group that was ex-military and expressed “ultra-religious and anti-government sentiments.” The document mentions the group had grievances about government corruption and “the handling of the Epstein files” as well as “data centers taking up all the water in communities.”
Proper told authorities that his goal was to “jumpstart” a revolution and that the group was looking to target “wealthy people and politicians” at the White House event.
Governor Jim Pillen released a statement Tuesday regarding the incident, stating that the Nebraska State Patrol “provided significant support in the FBI-led operation” that led to one of the individuals being arrested in Nebraska.
“This morning the U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest and charging of several individuals across the United States, including one in Nebraska, for an alleged plot to carry out an attack to kill government officials and others attending the UFC fight held at the White House on Sunday,” Pillen said. This nationwide investigation is ongoing and further details may emerge, but it already provides a timely example that violent extremists can be lurking anywhere, even right here in the Good Life. As always, homeland security starts at home, and vigilance is critical to identify and stop attacks like this before they can be carried out.”
