It’s ironic to me that some on the far, far right seem to disagree with Dr. Younes’s view that racial and ethnic diversity is good. She is married into Kearney’s most influential family. They’ve generously invested in the city of Kearney and are likely the main reason for Kearney’s current state of flourishing. And their family is not white, fourth-generation farmers. Each day Kearney-ites reap the benefits of their work for our city, and we’re beyond blessed that their family is part of our community. Of course no one wants a mediocre job candidate to receive an offer just because of race, ethnicity, or gender. But let’s not throw out the baby with the bath water by being fearful of anything that celebrates diversity or asks for viewpoints from people who aren’t part of the dominant culture.

This anti-woke and anti-DEI bellyaching by conservatives is tiresome as can be. We all get it; you need to stoke culture wars to rile up your base, because you really have nothing else. Hey Christians, reminder that Jesus was really into diversity and was woke AF. Quit getting baited by corrupt conservative politics.
