State Senator Megan Hunt went on a late-night rant against President Donald Trump during Tuesday debate on the Legislature’s floor, calling for his impeachment and accusing America of committing “genocide.”
“Members of Congress must call for impeachment and removal, soldiers must resist unlawful orders, and every American who loves their country must speak out and say finally ‘enough is enough,’” she said. “In a sane country, this man would be removed from office immediately.”
The progressive state senator went on to say that the world should stand up and “rally” around Iran. “The people of Iran and its history and its culture are not disposable. It’s thousands of years old,” she said. “And the entire world should be rallying to protect them.”
“Why should we expect that when we see how the entire world has turned its back on Gaza?” Hunt blamed the “imperialist, capitalist greed” of America for humanitarian crises across the world.
Hunt later tweeted out a video of her remarks where she called American leaders “parasites” and accused the country of committing genocide.
“Trump, a con man who raped his wife and said he would marry his daughter were she not his daughter, is the logical consequence of a system that allows the world’s greatest parasites to commit a genocide for the world to witness every day on our stupid phones. He must be removed,” she said.
Hunt’s remarks follow a Tuesday threat from Trump, stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if the Iranian regime did not give in to his demands.
“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump said in a message sent out on Truth Social. “However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight.”
Later in the evening, The White House tweeted out that Trump had struck a two week cease fire with Iran. “The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning longterm peace with Iran,” the statement said.
