ASHLAND — The iconic “Trump Barn” in Ashland, Nebraska, now has a new Trump sign hanging from it, courtesy of an anonymous donor and coordination from the Scott Petersen for Secretary of State campaign.
Around 11:30 a.m., a handful of campaign volunteers watched as the sign was hung high atop the barn, owned by Alan Volger. Volger has had a Trump sign hanging from his barn since 2015, when Trump first ran for office.
“I got a cousin that lives in Chicago that encouraged me to get this done, and he financed the first sign,” Volger said. “It stayed up until the letters got so faded you couldn’t see it anymore.”
The first sign was replaced a couple of years later, but it was torn off during a strong windstorm in March of this year.
“When that sign came down, it wasn’t but 15 minutes before it was all over social media,” Volger said. Several news outlets called him about the sign, with many speculating it might have been taken down deliberately.
Now the sign can be seen once again along I-80 just west of the Platte River. Several cars, trucks, and semi-tractor trailers honked in support along I-80 while the banner was hung and fastened to the wall of the barn.
Scott Petersen and several campaign volunteers were on site to watch it put in place.
“One of our good supporters donated the money to buy a new sign. And our team coordinated the opportunity to get it put up,” Petersen said. “And it is the most iconic barn in the state—and people honking as they go by, it’s fun. And we absolutely want to make sure everybody knows this is Trump country.”
The barn shares space with banners for Scott Petersen for Secretary of State, the EPIC Option, and the pro-life organization LifeRunners.
